A short film I shot in 2012 called “Picture a Girl with Red Hair” has finished post-production and is beginning its run on the festival circuit. I shot on the RED EPIC using 5K Anamorphic Mode with a set of my LOMO Anamorphic Lenses. Here is a still from the project:
We shot over two days with a crew of about thirty people in the Lawrence / Kansas City area. Ian Stark played the main character and flew in from Los Angeles. The rest of the cast and crew were mainly Lawrence / KC locals.
I played a lot with color and stark differences between colors of light. Daylight is sort of a blue/green, and the practical tungsten sources are very, very warm. Often, I’d try to mix the two when I could. We had one scene that plays throughout the film that is set in a very red darkroom, and red colored objects are a dominant theme throughout the movie.
